Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau‘s relationship is not progressing forward right now.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, the former Canadian Prime Minister, 53, wasn’t loving the attention that came after his first date with the singer-songwriter, 40, last month.
“Justin wasn’t thrilled about the pictures getting out. It was a first date,” the source told the outlet in an article published Monday, August 18. “And these pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted.”
“Here’s the thing, if you’re going to be with Katy, you have to deal with the paparazzi and the fallout,” the source noted. “I don’t know how prepared he was for that. It can be a lot and it can be overwhelming.”

However, the source shared that the political figure and the “Firework” hitmaker — who split from her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, in June — “still have nothing bad to say about each other.”
“She’s busy, he’s busy. They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off,” the source explained. “But there’s nothing negative about it. They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
As Star previously reported, the pair were spotted dining in Montreal together in July, per footage obtained by TMZ.
