It’s been a rough year for Katy Perry, from the controversial Blue Origin flight to her engagement with Orlando Bloom ending. Not only that, but she’s in a few housing battles right now; and now, she’s getting fined for another thing she did.
Many know that Perry’s new album 143 was fraught with controversy, especially after collaborating with Dr. Luke, whom Kesha accused of “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally” abusing her. But now, it seems that her single “Lifetimes” has a controversy of its own.

Perry filmed the music video for her single at the Ses Salines Natural Park on the Balearic Islands (specifically at the dunes on the islet of S’Espalmador); and now, it’s a “serious” issue, per The US Sun. (However, per The Wrap, it’s more so seen as an environmental infringement, rather than anything harsher!)
In a press release, the environmental agency clarified that the production company “in no case” had asked for permission to shoot the video there. So now, Perry has to shell out nearly $7,000 for filming there without permission.

Now, here’s the thing: this issue first started last August. Back then, an investigation was started, and Perry’s label, Capitol Records, even released a statement to The Independent, saying: “The local video production company assured us that all necessary permits for the video were secure.”
But now, a year later, it seems Perry has to pay up.
