Katy Perry has been “trying a bit too hard to stay center stage” following her split from Orlando Bloom, according to a PR expert.
The former couple shocked fans last month when they ended their engagement after almost 10 years together. Since then, Katy has continued with her Lifetimes tour and made a number of solo appearances.
However, the singer has been trolled over her tour, with attendees criticizing her dance moves and suggesting she seems far from enthusiastic about being on stage. Amid the criticism, PR expert Kieran Elsby has suggested Katy’s latest behavior all stems from her split.
Speaking exclusively to The Express US, he shared, “Right now, it feels like Katy’s trying a bit too hard to stay center stage, almost like she’s in a race to outdo Orlando Bloom since the split, which just makes everything feel a bit forced.
“She’s had a run of bad press lately, from the space controversy to the album not landing, and now her tour being turned into memes, and that constant push to grab attention is only fueling the perception that she’s overreaching.”
The expert concluded, “Something low-key but heartfelt, like a small-scale performance, a raw acoustic release, or a candid interview where she’s genuinely vulnerable.
“Her aim should be to remind people why they fell in love with her in the first place, rather than trying to prove she’s still the loudest voice in the room. It is simple, step back and stop attention seeking.”
Despite Elsby’s warnings, PR expert Ryan McCormick believes there is a way back for Katy – and it’s all to do with her fans.
He explained, “Despite a series of negative setbacks Katy Perry doesn’t appear to have permanently damaged her relationship with fans. She has over 105 million Twitter followers and is the sixth most followed musician across social media (over 381 million combined fans). Perry would have to make a concerted prolonged effort to send her reputation into a tailspin.
“Regardless of whom she dates or how underwhelming any future album may perform, Perry’s fans will love her regardless.”
