Diane Keaton’s death left fans and celebrities around the world shattered as tributes began to roll in.
Actor Keanu Reeves was among those who shared their heartbreak. He starred alongside Diane in the 2003 movie Something’s Gotta Give. In retrospect, Keanu recalled fondly the good times he had with Diane on set, complimenting her skills as an actress.
He told E! News, “She was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person.”
The actress’s death was revealed on Oct. 12. She was 79 when she died.
The news of Diane’s death came from a friend. They told People, “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.” She reportedly lived a reclusive life in the end.
Diane is known for a myriad of roles, including Woody Allen’s 1977 romantic comedy Annie Hall. She received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress on four occassions.
She was not just a movie star, though, as she got her start on Broadway before later expanding to the screen. Her first major movie was Francis Ford Coppola’s 1970 gangster film The Godfather.
Plus, Diane was known for her androgynous style. She wore tailored suits with bowler hats. The star’s vests were iconic and a staple in her look.
Diane also dabbled in music, releasing a single 2024. She sang Last Christmas, which her only solo artist track, never exploring music further.
Diane’s final days were largely spent in private. Her last public appearance was over a year ago whens he was seen at a Beverly Hills restaraunt for a dinner event organized by fashion designer Thom Browne and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Prior, she was occassionally seen at events including New York Fashion Week and the US Open.
However, in the end, as her health was deteriorating, she remained only close to select family members. In fact, her friends were largely kept away from the situation, unaware of her decline, according to the Daily Mail.
