Over the weekend, Keith Urban performed at Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt’s holiday party, which he hosted at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. The intimate, private set featured Urban and a small backing band.

In clips shared to Instagram by realtor Tali Israel, Urban puts his own spin on Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” and Bob Marley & The Wailers’ “Is This Love?,” among other covers. Urban also performed “Messed Up as Me,” his 2024 stand-alone single that reached No. 12 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart.

More from Billboard

“President Trump at Anthony Prett’s (who just so generously pledged five billion dollars toward American manufacturing projects) holiday party at the Mar-a-Lago,” Israel captioned her carousel. “Amazing people and great entertainment by Keith Urban.”

Urban’s representative had no comment on his private performance.

Since the videos hit social media, some fans have voiced their confusion over Urban’s decision. In the comments section of one post that recirculated Israel’s clips, Butch Walker — the current lead guitarist for Train — wrote, “What. A. F—ing. Disappointment.” Another fan gave Urban the benefit of the doubt, tweeting, “Singing Pink Pony Club at a Trump event might be a gag. He might have done this on purpose.”

Notably, Urban has played coy on who he supported in the 2024 United States presidential election. “I’m often amazed that people don’t look to artists’ work — they’re pretty clear on who they are and their views, and I’m no different. … I play to extremely diverse audiences in every way, politically and pronoun, age groups, ethnicity,” he told The Times last fall.

Back in 2017, Urban toyed with the idea of performing at the White House, saying, “I would like to probably answer that question when it comes up, but I’m a citizen, and I like to do what’s right.”

At an Oscars afterparty in March, Roan performed a special rendition of “Pink Pony Club” alongside Elton John. The Missouri-bred pop star is also a noted critic of President Trump. Ahead of the 2024 election, she posted a TikTok, saying, “F— Trump for f—ing real, but f— some of the sh– that has gone down in the Democratic party that has failed people like me and you — and, more so, Palestine, and more so, every marginalized community in the world.”

The “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer’s performance comes just two months after his separation from Nicole Kidman. The Babygirl actress filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Anthony Pratt is the executive chairman of Pratt Industries, a leading privately owned recycled paper and packaging company. At last year’s Mar-a-Lago-set Pratt holiday party, Chris Rock abruptly ended his comedy set after he allegedly caught guests violating his no-filming policy.

Both Roan and the Marley estate have yet to comment on Urban’s performance.
