King Charles has reportedly given Prince Harry only 54 minutes during their highly anticipated meeting in London on Sept. 10, their first in 19 months.
Arriving at Clarence House, the King’s London residence, the Duke of Sussex met with his father for what Buckingham Palace officials called a “private tea,” despite having a packed schedule during his four-day UK visit.
The Prince’s Range Rover was captured pulling into Clarence House at 5:20pm, hours after he attended an engagement at Imperial College London.
Earlier, the King flew to the capital from Balmoral, Scotland, where he has been spending the summer break, this afternoon for his regular cancer treatment.
The meeting marks the first time the father and son have come face to face in over 19 months. Their last meeting took place in February 2024, when Harry journeyed to the UK to meet the King after his cancer diagnosis was announced.
The Duke of Sussex returned to the U.K. on Sept. 8 to support some of his charities and causes, but first paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death.
Harry then attended the WellChild Awards and, the following day, he traveled to Nottingham, England, to celebrate the work being done for young people there.
In July, rumors of reconciliation between Harry and his family began circulating when senior aides to Harry and Charles were spotted having a meeting in London.
Meredith Maines, head of communications for Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, met Tobyn Andreae, communication secretary to the King, at a private members’ club.
Earlier, in May, during his case against the Home Office over his UK security provisions, which he lost, Harry commented on the King’s health.

“I would love a reconciliation with my family,” he said. “I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff… but it would be nice to reconcile.”
He told the BBC the monarch would not speak to him because of his court battle over his security.
Harry also admitted that some of his actions in recent years, including writing his memoir Spare, had made it difficult for members of his family to speak with him.
Since moving to the U.S., Harry, who stepped back as a working royal in 2020, has aimed a number of accusations at his father, his stepmother Queen Camilla, his brother Prince of Wales and his sister-in-law the Princess of Wales in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, various interviews, and his autobiography Spare.
After Harry and Charles’ senior aides met, an insider told People, “It was a good first step. It is always better to be talking.”
The same month, the Duke of Sussex reportedly offered to share his official schedule with the royal family, a move seen as Harry’s way of avoiding overshadowing his family’s engagements.
Before the meeting, Daniela Relph, senior royal correspondent at the BBC, said in August, “The King will be in the UK. He will be in Scotland at his Balmoral Estate.
“Harry could go to Scotland but we know the King is regularly travelling south for cancer treatment and some royal engagements, leaving open the chance of seeing his son in person.”
