A new clip of King Charles’s documentary, Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, has been released ahead of its launch on Prime Video on Friday. The one-minute video shows the 77-year-old monarch watching archive footage of his younger self giving a speech on climate change.
Opening with a scene of Windsor Castle, narrator Kate Winslet introduces the King’s first landmark speech on the enviornment, aged just 21. As the actress speaks, archive footage of Charles walking with his parents and siblings on the grounds of the Berkshire royal estate is played. Young Queen Elizabeth is wearing a pale green skirt and matching jacket, Princess Anne wears a bright yellow dress, while Charles and Prince Philip wear tweed suits.
Prince Edward looks sweet in a red jumper and jeans, while older brother Andrew wears brown trousers and pale yellow top with the monarch’s beloved corgis running around their feet.
The video then shows archive footage of Charles giving a speech at ‘Countryside in 1970’ convention in Cardiff, Wales, where he warns against pollution, plastic waste, and air contamination. His first enviornmental speech also highlighted the need for humans to live in harmony with nature, the main theme of the the King’s new documentary.
Watching the old footage in the Tapestry Room of Dumfries House in Scotland, the King smiles and chuckles as he sees his young self deliver the speech.
He then comments on the archive speech, where he speaks about pollution, and says: “Well, it was quite a long time ago and I, I remember being well, profoundly concerned about all this.
“It seemed crazy to go on without thinking carefully about how we manage all.”
