Members of the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Committee attended the Georgia/South Carolina Association of Fairs Annual Convention earlier this month, where they secured new entertainment acts for the 64th annual fair and participated in industry seminars. During the event, Miss Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Mel Smith earned Third Runner-Up honors in the regional pageant, and the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair received the Georgia Fairs Association Marketing Award for its digital outreach efforts.
Members of the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Committee attended the Georgia/South Carolina Association of Fairs Annual Convention February 5–7 at the Emory Hotel and Conference Center, where they secured new entertainment acts and participated in industry seminars ahead of this year’s fair.
The regional convention brought together fair organizers from across Georgia and South Carolina to meet with vendors, review entertainment options, attend safety and public relations sessions, and discuss scheduling and operational planning. Organizers said the meetings resulted in several new attractions and updated programming for the upcoming fair, which will be held October 19-24, 2026.
New and Returning Entertainment
Among the newly secured acts is a full circus production that will perform multiple daily shows throughout the week. The circus will feature traditional elements such as trapeze performers and animal demonstrations, with two one-hour shows scheduled Monday through Friday and three performances on Saturday.
Jurassic Kingdom will also return this year, bringing an entirely new production with updated props, equipment, and staging.
A lumberjack-themed act is also scheduled to debut, featuring chainsaw carving, log rolling, axe throwing, and other demonstrations.
Live music will return to the fairgrounds as well, with Richie and the High Street Rockers set to perform Friday and Saturday night. The band specializes in 1950s and 1960s hits and will perform two shows each evening.
All featured entertainment is included with paid admission.
Miss Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Earns Third Runner-Up Title
The Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair was also represented on the pageant stage during the Georgia/South Carolina Fair Pageant, where Miss Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Mel Smith earned the title of Third Runner-Up.
Smith was supported by members of the Statesboro Kiwanis Club, as well as the 2024 Fair Queen, who were in attendance to cheer her on. Organizers said they were proud of the poise and confidence she displayed while representing the local fair at the regional level.
Statesboro Kiwanis Receives Georgia Fairs Association Marketing Award
In addition to pageant recognition, the Statesboro Kiwanis Club received the Georgia Fairs Association Marketing Award during the convention. The award recognizes excellence in fair promotion through social media and website marketing efforts.
The recognition highlights the club’s continued emphasis on digital outreach and community engagement. Marketing Co-Chairs Sydney Davis and Becky Sanders were credited for their leadership in overseeing the fair’s promotional strategy.
About the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair
The Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair is an annual agricultural fair hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro. First held in 1963, the fair was created after local Kiwanis members partnered with a traveling carnival and livestock exhibitors to establish a community event just outside the Statesboro city limits.
Now in its 64th year, the six-day fair combines carnival rides and midway games with local food vendors, business booths, agricultural exhibits, and livestock shows. Students participating in 4-H prepare mini-booths and livestock entries, while residents submit produce, baked goods, canned goods, and arts and crafts for exhibition.
Through its livestock program, the Kiwanis Club provides animals such as chicks, goats, hogs, and lambs to participating children, who raise and show them throughout the year.
The fair serves a 15-county coverage area and operates as a major fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, with proceeds supporting community initiatives and youth programs across the region.
Additional event details and ticket information are expected to be released closer to the fair’s opening in October.
