She is understood to have been involved in a heated dispute outside the establishment shortly before the collision. Emergency services responded at approximately 4.30 am after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck pedestrians.
Video footage circulating online appears to capture the horrifying moment a black vehicle plows into a group of people assembled outside the club. In the clip, Klaudia is seen being knocked down and pinned beneath the car as onlookers rush to assist, reports the Daily Star.
A man, thought to have been trying to unlock an e-scooter, is also swept up in the collision and hurled aside by the force of impact. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and drink driving. She remains in custody. Officers have said the incident is not being treated as a terrorist incident.
A man in his 50s sustained life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital, while another woman in her 30s was treated for minor injuries.
The Met Police released a statement, “Klaudia Zakrzewska, 32, from Essex, was involved in a collision on Argyll Street in the early hours of Sunday, 19 April. She was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on Saturday, 25 April.”
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said, “We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Klaudia’s family and friends in light of this tragic update. Our thoughts are also with everyone impacted by this incident.
“We recognize that this case has generated significant interest and discussion on social media; however, we would urge the public to refrain from further speculation. We also ask that people not share graphic footage out of respect for Klaudia’s loved ones and for those who have been injured.
“The circulation of such material could also undermine our ongoing criminal investigation and potentially prejudice future court proceedings.” A 58-year-old man also sustained life-changing injuries in the incident. On Monday, 20 April, Gabrielle Carrington, 29 (06.11.96), of Broadfield Road, Manchester, was charged with: attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, drink driving.
She appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 21 April, and was remanded into custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 19 May. Following Klaudia’s death, the charge of attempted murder will be amended to murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, of Specialist Crime South, previously said, “As our inquiries continue, our thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones. While this incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open, and we believe many people witnessed what happened.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or any activity prior to it, that they feel may be of relevance, to come forward. The information you have – however minor you believe it may be – could be of crucial importance to investigators.”
