The Hollywood Walk of Fame will unveil a star honoring Chadwick Boseman on Nov. 20, recognizing the late actor’s contributions to film and his portrayal of Marvel’s Black Panther, Parade reports.
Simone Ledward-Boseman, the actor’s wife, will accept the honor during a ceremony that will include remarks from director Ryan Coogler, who worked with Boseman on multiple projects, according to Billboard.
Ana Martinez, a Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Boseman’s legacy with the star.
“His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world,” Martinez said.
Boseman died in 2020 from colon cancer at age 43.
He first appeared as Black Panther in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” a role that became his most recognized performance, Parade noted. After his death, Marvel decided against recasting the character, instead shifting the superhero mantle to the character’s sister, portrayed by Letitia Wright.
The actor’s career included a breakthrough performance as Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film “42.” He also appeared in “Marshall,” “Da 5 Bloods,” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” His performances earned him a Golden Globe Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and an Academy Award nomination.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said the star will be installed at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles.
