Lily Allen is creating a Prime Video documentary about her life and career directed by Mat Whitecross
The film comes after her successful fifth album West End Girl explored the end of a tumultuous relationship
Prime Video describes the documentary as a raw and redefining look at Allen’s resilience and artistic reinvention
Lily Allen is not done sharing with fans.
After releasing her fifth studio album, West End Girl, in October 2025, the British pop star, 41, will be the subject of an upcoming Prime Video documentary about her life and career.
The film, which doesn’t currently have a release date, will include interviews with the people closest to her for viewers to get a full picture of how the musician became such a cultural force.

Prime Video described the upcoming film as a “story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms,” adding that it will be, “raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”
The documentary will cover Allen’s remarkable journey, from becoming known as the “Queen of MySpace” to the hitmaker she is today, in a way that has “never been seen before.”
According to Prime, “Lily’s sharp wit and candid storytelling directly paved the way for a generation of today’s biggest female artists.”
The feature will be directed by Mat Whitecross, who previously helmed celeb docs Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams.

West End Girl, the newest album, which unavoidably broke the internet, centered on the end of a tumultuous relationship following her 2025 split from ex-husband David Harbour. The Stranger Things star, 51, shared his thoughts on the album in a recent interview with Variety.
“It was weird,” he admitted. “I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that. I can’t really say that much more.”
PEOPLE confirmed that Allen and Harbour separated after four years of marriage in February 2025. The pair wed in 2020. Allen is mom to daughters Marnie, 13, and Ethel, 14, with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
In a recent interview with ELLE, Allen revealed she “was processing things that were happening at a quite traumatic period of time” while creating West End Girl and used the album as a means of channeling her anger.
“I think that if I’ve learnt anything about myself from it, it’s that rage is powerful and necessary and it’s not necessarily a bad thing to express,” the “Smile” singer expressed at the time. “In fact, repressed rage is arguably more damaging.”
