Lindsay Lohan has her sights set on starring in rom-coms on the silver screen, according to a source.
A source tells Star that while the former child actress, 39, “has re-established herself with her Netflix work and the new Freakier Friday,” her ultimate goal “is to get rom-coms back in cinemas.”
“Lindsay and her team see a much bigger prize in her future as she continues to mount her comeback,” the source explains, noting they want to “make the kind of movies that Julia Roberts did in the ’90s – big, crowd-pleasing female-driven comedies that pull in huge audiences.”

“She wants to make her version of My Best Friend’s Wedding or Runaway Bride,” the source shares. “She believes she can bring that whole genre back, in a big way.”
Lohan, of course, starred in some cult classic rom-coms herself in the early days of her career, including The Parent Trap (1998) and Mean Girls (2004).
“Her focus right now is finding another project that will play in theaters, not on streaming,” the source adds.

In an interview with Forbes published earlier this month, Lohan relayed her career goals to the outlet.
“I want to find more films that are bigger stories, in terms of romantic comedies – whether it be something like that,” she remarked. “Just bigger stories — I miss seeing romantic comedies in theaters.”
“I know I’ve done a lot for Netflix for streaming, but I miss bringing those to the box office,” Lohan admitted. “So, that’s something I’d like to find more of.”
