Lola Young returned to the main stage on Thursday night at Spotify’s Best New Artist Party in West Hollywood, ahead of the 68th annual Grammy Awards, alongside her fellow nominees Addison Rae, Olivia Dean, Leon Thomas, Katseye, Sombr, Alex Warren and The Marías.
The 25-year-old “Messy” singer, who announced an indefinite hiatus from music back in September, marked her big night with an idiosyncratic beauty aesthetic, featuring Old Hollywood-inspired hair and spider-y lashes.

Inside The Lot at Formosa, Young’s hair, once a mullet with stark blond streaks, was now colored black and curled in coils down her back. Meanwhile, her front bangs were folded to the right of her forehead and tucked behind the longer sections around them.
For her makeup, Young went heavy on the blush, blending the product over her cheek piercings and a field of fake freckles à la Pippi Longstocking. Her eyes were embellished with pumpkin-colored shadow on her lids, shimmering white shadow in her inner corners and sky-high lashes that tickled the bottoms of her brows, while her lips were lined in a dark taupe hue and filled with clear gloss.
It’s not certain who Young collaborated with to create her hair and makeup for Thursday night’s performance; however, she’s previously teamed with makeup artists Nikkie de Jager and Colby Kim, as well as hair architect Sky Kim.

In September, Young took to her Instagram to announce her indefinite leave from music after she collapsed mid-performance at All Things Go Music Festival in New York. “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” she wrote. “Thank you all for the love and support. I’m sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.”
She continued: “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
Fans and friends of the artist filled her comments section with positive thoughts immediately after the post went live. “Sending so much support and light your way. So brave if you. There’s never a rush only a need to show up for yourself,” Lily Collins wrote, while Teddy Swims said: “God bless you. We support and love you.”

Young has since been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Messy” at the 2026 Grammys. She’s also slated to take the stage, once again, between performances by Rae, Warren and all the other nominees in the Best New Artist category at some point during Sunday night’s ceremony.
