Will there be a mini One Direction reunion?
On Tuesday, former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson announced on social media that he will be releasing his third studio album, How Did I Get Here?, in January 2026. The lead single “Lemonade” is out now on all streaming platforms.
For some time now, fans have speculated about a possible collaboration with Zayn Malik, another member of One Direction, who left in March 2015. Rumors began circulating after the two were spotted together last month, and Malik attended Tomlinson’s show back in January.
In a recent interview with iHeartRadio, Tomlinson was asked if he had heard about the rumors regarding a collaboration with Malik. The 33-year-old singer then smiled and nodded, claiming he had heard about them. Afterwards, the interviewer asked the English singer his reaction to that, to which he responded that “it was pretty interesting” and “pretty astute.”
When asked to clarify if the rumors were true, Tomlinson responded that his fans would “just have to wait and see.”
Formed in 2010 on the British reality show The X Factor, One Direction went on to become a global success. Other members of the boy band included Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, who passed away in October 2024 after falling off his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in January 2016 to focus on their solo careers.
Considered teen idols, One Direction were the subject of fan hysteria comparable to Beatlemania. Their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful,” was a commercial and international success, reaching #1 on the UK singles chart. They also became the first British act to have their debut album top the charts on the Billboard 200 with Up All Night in 2011, and became the first band to have their first four albums debut at number one following the releases of Take Me Home in 2012, Midnight Memories in 2013 and Four in 2014. The band’s fifth and final album prior to their hiatus was Made in the A.M. in 2015, without Malik.
The group also went on four world tours to support their studio albums.

Four years after One Direction split up, Tomlinson found success as a solo artist. He released his debut solo album, Walls, in 2020and his second studio album, Faith in the Future, in 2022. That same year, he released a documentary titled All of Those Voices, whichoffered fans a raw and intimate look at his musical journey and struggles after the split, which he struggled with for years.
To support his third studio album, Tomlinson announced on Wednesday that he will be embarking on a world tour across Europe, the United Kingdom and North America in 2026.
Fans can listen to “Lemonade” on all streaming platforms, while How Did We Get Here? will be released on January 23, 2026.
