The band joined No Music For Genocide in September and have been very vocal on their support for Palestine.

Massive Attack have announced plans to release new music in 2026.

The trip-pop band released a statement to social media last night, announcing their plans to release music via a new label, noting the new tracks will not be available to stream on Spotify. Their most recent release was their 2020 EP Euotopia, and are set to perform at Primavera Sound this upcoming summer.

“From next year we will release a cache of work created in the recent past,” the group posted. “tracks will be available physically and digitally via a new label with a Spotify exception.”

Many artists have spoken out against Spotify due to CEO Daniel Ek’s investments in military technology and the platform advertising for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E) recruitment. Ek has made investments towards the German defense contractor Helsing, which provides weaponry to Ukraine.

Massive Attack stand alongside other artists such as Björk, Lorde, Hayley Williams, Kneecap and Fontaines D.C., as part of the No Music For Genocide campaign where musicians have blocked their music from streaming in Israel via geo-blockers. Over 1000 artists have joined in solidarity with the people of Palestine, with a similar boycott taking place after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“In our view, the historic precedent of effective artist action during apartheid South Africa and the apartheid, war crimes and genocide now being committed by the state of Israel renders the No Music For Genocide’ campaign imperative,” the band said in statement in September.

“In the separate case of Spotify, the economic burden that has long been placed on artists is now compounded by a moral and ethical burden, whereby the hard-earned money of fans and the creative endeavours of musicians ultimately funds lethal, dystopian technologies.”
