Sarah Ferguson’s name is being thrown around a lot these days, she’s featured in Andrew Lownie’s new bombshell biography, and she’s mentioned in the transcript of Ghislaine Maxwell‘s interview about Jeffrey Epstein, released on Friday by the Department of Justice.
Maxwell spoke to Todd Blanche, United States Deputy Attorney General, and during the conversation she described her relationship wth the Duchess of York.
In the transcript, Blanche says that he and Maxwell had been talking about Sarah the day before, and he brought the topic up again, as it appears he wanted to continue the conversation.
Blanche said: “We talked a little about the Duchess of York, about Sarah Ferguson yesterday.”
Blanche took it for what it was, simply saying: “Okay.”
While he didn’t ask a follow-up question, Maxwell continued to talk about her relationship with Sarah.
Maxwell said: “I — it was always friendly when we were together, but I think that there was some latent hostility. And I — “
He asked: “Is that something you’ve heard since everything came out or along the way you felt that way?”
According to Maxwell, her answer was based on the time they spent together, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, not now.
She explained: “No, that’s how I felt. That — that is a characterization of myself.
“That’s how I felt about her. I would never — I was always friendly with her.”
Maxwell went on to say she had seen Sarah “many, many times” because they have mutual friends.
“I mean, she’s — I mean, I’ve seen her many, many times and she’s also super, super close with other people I’m very good friends with in England.”
It sounds like their friendship was touch and go, but they did run in the same circles and spent a fair amount of time together.
Maxwell also spoke about how Sarah got along with Epstein, saying: “I think that she liked Mr. Epstein.”
Blanche wondered how she came to this conclusion, with Maxwell crediting it to “female intuition.”
The Duchess of York has denied having any involvement in Esptein’s crimes.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking crimes. Her official release date is July 17, 2037.
