Ahead of Netflix’s hit One Piece Season 2, anticipated for release next year, promotion and teasers for the upcoming season show no signs of slowing down. Next to woo live-action fans and lock horns with Iñaki Godoy’s Luffy is Captain Smoker, portrayed by Callum Kerr.
In the clip, entering the Loguetown’s docks on his Billower with a no-nonsense attitude with two cigars clenched tightly in his mouth at once is Smoker. He is a muscular, aggressive (“Fish my haul out, eh?”), and a stoic Marine vice-admiral at Marine Base who is seen sporting his manga-accurate jitte and open jacket look. Quite like other manga characters, Smoker is a devil fruit user with the Smoke-Smoke fruit, which allows him to create, control, and transform his body into smoke. Also, that is exactly why he can pilot his Billower Bike on water.
Smoker is also the mentor and superior to Tashigi, who was introduced previously in the One Piece Season 2 trailer.
At Loguetown, which will be Luffy’s final pit stop before he sets sail into the Grand Line in search of One Piece, Smoker develops a rivalry with the Straw Hat Pirates. He is Luffy’s longest-recurring foe and the main antagonist in the Loguetown arc.
Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 will premiere on March 10, 2026, with Season 3 already greenlit at the streamer, bringing on board the cast for the fan-favourites such as Bon Clay and Portgas D. Ace.
