GB News host Dawn Neesom welcomed Royal Biographer Ingrid Seward onto the show as they discussed Meghan Markle monetising her outfit worn to meet survivors from the Bondi terror attack. Her outfit she wore on Friday has appeared on fashion platform OneOff, where she gets a cut of purchases made via that website. The decision was highly criticised by the host and guest on Saturday’s show as Dawn reiterated that Meghan gets a share from the profits of anyone who has made a purchase from the website used as she raged: “That’s vile.”
She went on to explain that she was “deeply shocked”, with Dawn asking if it is a new low for Meghan, prompting Ingrid to state that Meghan had not thought the move through and was just “Meghan thinking about Meghan”. She stated that the situation makes it seem that Meghan doesn’t mean it when she’s hugging survivors, because all she’s seeing is “dollar signs”.
People rushed to the comments to share their anger as one user took to X and said: “Markle is an opportunist. No one should be surprised by anything she does.” While another wrote: “Nothing new about that, when she’s little more than a narcissist!”
A third raged: “Atrocity for profit is her MO,” as another fumed that it was “disgusting behaviour”.
The items that were being promoted include a £345 striped Matteau shirt in blue and white, £110 white sailor-style jeans and £220 Freda Salvador trainers. Her £195 sunglasses and £876 brown handbag were also listed on the site.
It’s reported that she could receive between 10-25% commission on each item purchased, and holds an investment stake in the fashion company too.
Royal commentator Richard Palmer also criticised Meghan’s move, telling the Mail: “I think this will have alarm bells ringing at the Palace and may ultimately prompt further discussion about whether there is a need to strip them of their royal titles, now the King has shown it can be done in effect with Andrew.”
