Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have both advocated for stronger protections for children online. On Sunday, the Duchess urged global health leaders to act to keep children safe online, adding they are being shaped by systems “designed to capture attention at any cost”.
Following her impassioned speech, on her way back from Geneva to Los Angeles, Meghan made a brief stop in the UK during a layover after vowing to never set foot in the country again.
A spokesperson for the Duchess confirmed the brief stop to the Daily Express US.
Meanwhile, Meghan herself revealed on her social media that she took a British Airways flight, which records show originated at Heathrow Airport and ended at Los Angeles International Airport.
Following a series of videos of her family celebrating her and Prince Harry’s eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, the Duchess also shared a card from the BA crew, who wished her a happy anniversary.
She shared the message: “Thanks to this amazing flight crew for all the love yesterday! Appreciate all your memories and kind words.”
The card read: “Dearest Harry and Meghan, Wishing you a wonderful wedding anniversary, With love, The whole British Airways family.”
It was dated May 18, this past Monday and was marked with the flight’s number, BA 269. Sources close to the Duchess said she was “so touched” by the crew’s actions.
They told People magazine: “Meghan’s flight crew was so lovely on her way back from Geneva. They all came to say happy anniversary and shared their memories of where they were on the day.”
The crew also reportedly gave treats for the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
They added: “They wrote Harry and Meghan a card and gave them a bottle of champagne and British candies for Harry and the kids.
“It was very special and so appreciated by Meghan, who wanted to publicly thank them. She was truly so touched.”
In the book Endgame, released in 2023, author Omid Scobie, who’s been dubbed Meghan’s “mouthpiece” several times due to his favourable coverage of the Sussex couple, claimed that Meghan “never felt at home” in the UK and “never wants to set foot again in England”.
