Meghan Markle’s friend has spoken out following reports they shared an “awkward encounter” during an event at a bookstore.
The Duchess of Sussex surprised fans as she joined Courtney Adamo at Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California, to celebrate the launch of her pal’s new book.
During their time onstage, fans spotted an awkward moment between the pair as Meghan appeared to adjust her friend’s microphone. Many branded this move as “rude,” but it seems Courtney wasn’t bothered as she later thanked Meghan for joining her at the event.
Taking to instagram to share some snaps from the event, Courtney wrote, “This was such an exciting career highlight for me to sit up on stage in the beautiful Godmothers Bookstore, in front of the most engaged and smiling audience, to share about our new book and to answer questions about how we can create a home for our family that is filled with joy and intention.
“Thank you to @godmothersbooks for hosting and to my longtime friend @meghan for joining and supporting me. I hardly slept last night from all the excitement!”
Fans were loving the pictures, with one person commenting, “Congratulations Courtney!! I also did a double take when I saw the picture. Great to have your friends supporting you :)”
Someone else shared, “Thank you Courtney for sharing with us about your home. Very very intentional! Loved ur conversation with Meghan and Victoria…. Meghan really has great friends who are a mainstay in her life..it was great to be introduced to you. Makes sense why you are still friends. Now let me ho buy book.”
“Yes! What an awesome friend to do this,” a third person added as they praised Meghan.
Another fan added, “This is surreal, because I follow you both and like you both for years – early 2010s Suits and Babycincco and never put you two together, but you were friends all the time, and it just goes to show, I like what like that is stylish entrepreneurial women.”
Courtney’s post comes after Meghan’s awkward move at the bookstore event.
While the two women spoke on stage, Meghan grabbed Courtney’s arm and pushed the microphone closer to Courtney’s mouth as she joked, “I could hold it [the microphone] for you.”
Following Meghan’s interference, Courtney admitted, “This makes me so nervous.” Meghan then giggled as she put her arm around her friend.
