Melania Trump “didn’t need to be told twice” when she prioritized her own safety over her husband’s as shots rang out at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The First Lady has drawn both mockery and admiration online for her instinctive response to the shooting, as footage appeared to show her acting swiftly to protect herself before attending to Donald Trump.

In the aftermath of the incident, footage of the chaotic scene flooded social media, with viewers noting that Melania “didn’t think twice” about securing her own safety ahead of the president’s.

In one widely circulated clip, Melania and Donald Trump were seen enjoying a performance by mentalist Oz Pearlman, seated on stage alongside Karoline Leavitt and JD Vance, reports the Irish Star.

The moment gunfire was heard, Melania immediately dove under the table — acting before Secret Service agents had even reached her 79-year-old husband. The remaining guests followed suit before the First Couple and JD Vance were rapidly escorted off stage.

Social media users were quick to weigh in, drawing attention to just how “fast” the 56-year-old had dropped for cover. “Melania ducked before the Secret Service was close. She saved herself,” one Facebook user said with a laughing face, as another observed, “See how fast Melanie hides under the table. She leaves him there.”

Meanwhile, a third Facebook user wrote, “Did you see Melania get under that table quick, fast, and in a hurry?!!” alongside a crying laughing face, while a fourth user chimed in to say, “Melania sure did move fast.”

Allen stands accused of charging toward the event and breaching a Secret Service checkpoint, before allegedly exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers.

Although the Trumps and their guests escaped unharmed, reports suggest that one Secret Service agent was struck by a bullet at close range, though his bulletproof vest shielded him from injury. Allen was not shot but was taken to a medical facility for evaluation after being restrained and taken into custody.

The 31-year-old suspect has since faced charges of assault on a federal officer and use of a firearm during a crime of violence, with his arraignment scheduled for Monday.
