Meryl Streep took “The Devil Wears Prada 2” through two very different color and texture lanes on Friday in New York, stepping out first in an oversized green spotted satin layer before changing into a glossy red Dolce & Gabbana trench for the film’s global press junket in the Financial District.

The first look kept things loose, but not soft. Streep wore a bright green satin topper scattered with oversized black spots, cut with a broad collar, dropped shoulders and a roomy, almost cocooning shape that hung clean over a white collared shirt and medium-wash jeans. Turned-back cuffs exposed a darker reverse side with green spots over black. Black sunglasses, small gold hoops, black slip-ons and a slate-blue top-handle bag kept the rest of the look pared back.

By the junket, that ease had tightened into something much harder. Streep changed into a long red patent Dolce & Gabbana trench over a Gabriela Hearst dress, replacing the earlier look’s loose satin volume with a much stricter line. Broad peaked lapels, a double-breasted front, a tied waist and an ankle-grazing hem gave the coat a hard, controlled shape. In patent red, the finish looked glossier and more formal than matte fabric would have, which pushed the junket outfit closer to the polished severity that has been running through her Miranda Priestly promo wardrobe.

Only a narrow strip of the Gabriela Hearst dress was visible at the neckline, where a red print broke up the patent surface. Streep finished the look with a brighter red Manu Atelier top-handle bag, pointed red Dolce & Gabbana pumps, Emmanuelle Khanh sunglasses and Effy Jewelry. The look was styled by Micaela Erlanger.

The switch made sense inside the promo run Streep has been building for the sequel. She opened the tour in Mexico City at the end of March in a monochrome red Dolce & Gabbana suit with glossy Aldo slingbacks, then worked red back into the Tokyo premiere through Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. Friday’s New York outing pushed that same visual thread in two directions at once: first graphic and offhand in green satin, then strict and high-shine in red patent when it came time for official “The Devil Wears Prada 2” business.
