Millie Bobby Brown won’t be silenced when it comes to criticism about being a young mother.
The 22-year-old Stranger Things alum spoke candidly about being judged as a first-time mom during a June 11 appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast. Brown, the wife of Jon Bon Jovi’s son Jake Bongiovi, called out the mom-shaming she’s received since adopting a baby girl last year.
“I was like, ‘This is vicious. You are vicious,'” Brown said around the 49-minute mark of the video below. “And I don’t have time for angry women that just need to feel like they need to bring you down, especially when it comes to motherhood. I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
Brown told Kelce that she had first assumed that all the cruel remarks on social media were coming from men, but she was wrong.
“I was always like, ‘Oh my god, these are all men saying all of these horrible things,'” the actress said. “And then one day I figured out, actually quite a few of them were women.”
Brown and Bongiovi announced the adoption of their daughter in August 2025 in a joint Instagram post.
“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” read the caption.
To date, the couple have chosen not to reveal their daughter’s name.
Elsewhere, Brown responded to accusations that she hadn’t properly dressed her daughter for cold weather in some circumstances, particularly not putting a hat on her.
“Just stay in your own lane. Put a hat on your baby and put a sock in your mouth,” Brown warned. “I’m just like, shut up.”
Also in the interview, Brown defended Bongiovi against speculation that he is a negligent father after a photo circulated showing the actress with her hands full, holding a car seat and two large bags.
“Nobody knows my husband,” Brown insisted. “My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I’m capable.”
