Millie Bobby Brown is remembering the heartbreak that she felt after leaving an unsuccessful audition with Hugh Jackman as a child.
The 22-year-old actress opens up about screen testing with the Marvel superhero, 57, for one of “the Wolverine movies” during a recent installment of Entertainment Weekly’s video series, “Lie vs. Lie,” where Brown shares her best audition story as part of the game, and her costars guess whether her stories are true or false.
“I screentested with Hugh Jackman when I was like, 11 or 12,” she tells her Enola Holmes 3 costar Louis Partridge, before confirming that it was for “the Wolverine movies.”

When Partridge asks the Stranger Things star how she felt after leaving the room at the time, she admits that it hadn’t gone as well as she’d hoped.
“Broken,” Brown responds. “I felt like I probably didn’t get it, because I think there was someone else that was better.”
Partridge ultimately declares that Brown is telling the truth, pointing out that his costar would’ve been around the right age to play the character of X-23 in the 2017 Wolverine spinoff, Logan.
“It’s true,” Brown agrees. “And it was for Logan. I just thought to throw you off with the Wolverine movies.”
When Partridge notes that’s not technically how the game’s played, Brown simply responds, “Well, I wanted to ‘cause I can!”

The role of X-23 ultimately went to Dafne Keen. The actress reprised her superpowered character seven years later in Marvel’s box office smash hit, Deadpool & Wolverine.
While Brown hasn’t ventured into the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, she did end up becoming a young superhero with a number as their name, Eleven, on Netflix’s hit series, Stranger Things.
She starred as the character across all five seasons of the show, which came to a dramatic close that was available to watch on the streaming platform and in theaters last New Year’s Eve.
Watch Brown and Partridge attempt to lie to each other in the video above. Enola Holmes 3 is streaming now on Netflix.
