The most anticipated release of the year is, perhaps, the King of Pop’s long-awaited biopic, along with several returning franchises — including “Scary Movie,” “Scream,” “Spider-Man,” “The Hunger Games” and “Dune.” After well over a decade, another “The Devil Wears Prada” film arrives, as well as a follow-up to “The Social Network.” And if that’s not enough, Christopher Nolan has another star-studded cinematic event hitting theaters with “The Odyssey.”

Clearly, there’s a lot of good cinema to get excited about.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ — July 31

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is finally back in the next “Spider-Man” movie, “Brand New Day.” While details about the fourquel have been kept air-tight, Holland confirmed in a video shown at CinemaCon 2025 that the upcoming film will be a “fresh start” after 2021’s “No Way Home” left fans with a “massive cliffhanger,” Variety reported. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also expected to return, with Sadie Sink joining the cast. — Njera

‘The Social Reckoning’ — Oct. 9

More than 15 years after “The Social Network” chronicled the legal feud surrounding then-Harvard undergrad Mark Zuckerberg’s creation of Facebook comes its “companion piece,” “The Social Reckoning.” Per its synopsis, the biographical sequel, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin (who wrote the original film’s screenplay), recalls how Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison) and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) blew the whistle on the social media platform’s most guarded secrets. The movie also stars Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong, the latter of whom will play Zuckerberg. — Njera

‘Street Fighter’ — Oct. 16

One of the most legendary fighting video games is being turned into a live-action film (again). Set in 1993, the third action-packed adaptation of “Street Fighter” throws estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) back into combat “when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate and fury,” the movie’s synopsis reportedly states.

“But behind this battle royale,” it adds, “lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it will be game over.” The sweeping ensemble cast includes Jason Momoa, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Eric André, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Orville Peck, Olivier Richters, Hirooki Goto, Rayna Vallandingham, Alexander Volkanovski, Kyle Mooney and Mel Jarnson.
