MSU’s Department of Music announces lineup of fall events

STARKVILLE, Miss.—From the Wind Ensemble and choirs to music and opera, Mississippi State’s Department of Music is hosting numerous concerts this fall that are sure to please the ears of fans of live performances.

The fall lineup includes:

—Oct. 6, 7:30 p.m., MSU Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia, “Southern Soundscapes,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, ticketed

—Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m., World Music Series, “Native Americana” featuring Keith Secola, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—Oct. 19, 7 p.m., Choral Colloquium featuring Cantaré, State Singers and invited choirs, Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, free

—Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m., Choirs, “Fall into Song” featuring Opus and Cantaré, Recital Hall, Music Building, ticketed

—Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m., Wind Ensemble, “Colors in Music,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, free

—Nov. 11 and 13, 7:30 p.m., Opera, “The Old Man Who Loved Cheese” and “The Hiding Tree,” Recital Hall, Music Building, ticketed

—Nov. 16, 2 p.m., MSU Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia, “Lights, Camera, Orchestra,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, ticketed

—Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m., Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—Dec. 2, 7 p.m., Choirs, “Festival of Carols” featuring Opus, Schola Cantorum, Cantaré and State Singers, First Baptist Church of Starkville, ticketed

Additionally, football fans can enjoy halftime performances by MSU’s Famous Maroon Band, made up of more than 425 members from every college on campus.
