The marching band has a full season scheduled at the moment with locations as far as Syracuse and Medina, according to assistant director Tim Przybelinski. The band will be performing at a range of events throughout this season. Events include exhibition performances, football halftime performances, band competitions, and the state Field Band Conference Championships in Syracuse on Oct. 26.
The conference was formed with the goal of scheduling and organizing field band events across New York. The organization aims to encourage further participation in band activity through these events. The championships will be held at the JMA Wireless Dome. The events contain at least seven judges ranking based on six various subjects. Subjects include general visual effect, ensemble visual, field visual, general effect music, ensemble music, and field music.
The band consists of around 60 members, who come from both the Falconer and Frewsberg school districts. The combined band is going into its ninth season performing and was formed out of a need from both districts, stated Przybelinski. Przybelinski noted that, at the time of formation, Frewsburg had not had a marching band for years, while Falconer was struggling to keep the marching band alive. Przybelinski mentioned that this collaboration was an effort to keep the marching band opportunity alive for more kids to love and enjoy for years to come.
“I love working with this band. It’s super cool to see all of the middle school and high school students working so hard together for the entire season to produce an entire show that is performed solely by the students without adult intervention. The whole staff is super proud of this group,” said Przybelinski.

The students from both districts put an incredible amount of time and effort into preparing for these performances, noted Przybelinski. Przybelinski stated that the students put in around 200 hours of rehearsal time both before and during the season. The kids also overcome a host of challenges in terms of scheduling, said Przybelinski. These problems are caused by logistical challenges that arise from having students from two different districts and trying to coordinate times when everybody is free, noted Przybelinski.
“The kids all work hard and persevere through the challenges to create a great show that the community is proud of,” said Przybelinski.
