5 has ordered three royal documentaries from Fremantle’s Naked and Krempelwood.
The docs delve into the rise in popularity of Queen Camilla, the enduring relationship between Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the scandal engulfing Sarah Ferguson and the notorious ‘Fake Sheikh’.
Camilla: Of the People for the People (1 x 90’) (w/t) From being once branded the most hated woman in Britain to her ascent as Queen Consort, this fascinating portrait of Queen Camilla will chart her rise in popularity from outsider to one of the most relatable and trusted figures in the modern monarchy. Camilla’s extraordinary journey to Queen Consort is one of redemption, resilience and reinvention. Having weathered tabloid scandals and national tragedies, together with a relationship with His Majesty The King spanning more than 50 years, this documentary reveals the human story behind the headlines and celebrates a woman who has redefined what it means to be royal.
Elizabeth and Philip: A Royal Fairytale (1 x 90’) (w/t) This film will examine one of the greatest love stories in modern times, between the nation’s most beloved monarch and the longest-serving consort in British history. Revisiting the defining moments that shaped both their marriage and the monarchy, the documentary portrays the love, duty and endurance of the late Queen Elizabeth II and her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Their relationship not only endured, but anchored the British monarchy through decade of change.
Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal (1 x 60’) Sarah Ferguson has lived much of her life in the public eye, attracting immense media attention. She remains a major media talking point, recently relinquishing her Duchess of York title after Andrew was stripped of his privileges by King Charles. This gripping documentary delves into the allegations made in an undercover film of Mazher Mahmood posing as the notorious ‘Fake Sheikh’ in which it appeared that the former Duchess of York was allegedly offering access to the former Prince Andrew in exchange for £500,000. This infamous sting operation became a worldwide talking point, igniting a media firestorm.
All the films will use a mix of archive footage, candid testimony, and insights from biographers, historians and journalists.

The three documentaries have been commissioned by Commissioning Editor, 5/Paramount, Federico Ruiz for 5. The Executive Producer for Naked (a Fremantle label) is Nicola Lloyd. The Executive Producers for Krempelwood are Blair Krempel and Mark Wood.
Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal airs on Saturday 17th January at 21:20 on 5
