Perinton, N.Y. (WHAM) – Backwoods by Kettle Ridge Farm, a new outdoor music venue in Perinton, has quickly become a local sensation since its opening just over a month ago.
The venue’s popularity has surged on social media, amassing over 10,000 followers.
Owner Joe Hurley expressed surprise at the rapid success.
“We didn’t expect people to come out the way they have. Of course, the weather’s been beautiful, and the music’s been great, and the support from the community has just been awesome.,” said Hurley.
The venue’s 166 parking spots fill up quickly, leaving many guests to park along Route 31.
Perinton Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna noted, “We never would have anticipated something that he would operate there that would need more than 150 spaces.”
The town is working with the venue to explore parking alternatives and has approached the state about making Route 31 a no-parking zone.
AnneMarie Lechance-Sureau, a frequent attendee, praised the venue, saying, “I think this is the best venue I have seen in Monroe County.”
Hurley plans to use this season as a learning experience, stating,
“We’ll be taking this soft opening as a lesson plan for next year, and we’ll be making lots of changes for next year to make it as good as we can.” The venue will close for the season on Oct. 25, but plans to reopen when the weather warms up.”
