A new music venue may be coming to Asheville.
Big Picture Concert Group, which recently bought the Orange Peele, one the city’s largest indoor music venues, is now working on an outdoor concert venue that could seat up to 6,000 people, compared to the Orange Peele’s 1,100 person capacity.
The group has already bought the property where it said it will build the venue. It would be located beside the Swannanoa River at 155 Thompson Street, a mile from the Asheville Mall.
The proposed venue location falls within a floodplain. (NC OneMap)

No construction timeline for the project has been announced yet.
If built, it would become the biggest venue in the city, topping Ashville Yards, which currently holds the title.
