Ozzy Osbourne’s final years of life will be chronicled in two upcoming documentaries—and fans are already getting emotional about it.
On October 7, Paramount+ will release Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, a two-hour film directed by Tania Alexander. The documentary will look back at Osbourne’s final six years as he prepared for his last two albums and farewell tour amid serious health issues, per a press release shared by Consequence of Sound.
The doc was not originally intended to be a posthumous look at Osbourne’s life, and the rock legend is featured in interview segments throughout the film.
Osbourne’s family was fully involved in the making of the documentary, including his rarely seen daughter Aimee. In the trailer for No Escape From Now, Aimee Osbourne looked back on her father’s devastating fall in 2019 that led to a series of other health setbacks. She called the cancellation of his tour that year “his biggest heartbreak.”
Some of Osbourne’s close friends in the rock world were also interviewed for the film, including Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield, longtime Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, and Osbourne’s former Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi.
On social media, fans became emotional watching snippets of the poignant interviews with Osbourne and his loved ones that were recorded not long before his death.
“This documentary is going to be amazing, hasn’t even come out yet and I’m bawling my eyes out 😢 Ozzy Forever 🤘🏼🖤🖤 miss you every day 💔,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
“This is probably gonna break me, just watching the trailer gets me so emotional….. rip Ozzy! We love you,” added another.
“brb gonna go cry for 10 hours straight,” a third fan wrote.
“Crying the entire trailer 😢,” another commenter added.
Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now will be released five days after a long-awaited BBC documentary about the late rocker will finally be shown.
According to BBC.com, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home will air on BBC One and iPlayer on October 2, after being postponed from its original Aug. 18 release date, per the Osbourne family’s request.
The one-hour documentary will follow the late rocker’s last three years of life, which included a move back to England from the U.S. It was originally intended to be a 10-part TV series called Home to Roost.
In 2022, The Hollywood Reporter teased that Home To Roost would follow the Osbournes as they “attempt to re-start their lives in rural Buckinghamshire.”
Instead, the film will lead up to Osbourne’s return to the stage for the Back to the Beginning farewell concert in July, which took place just 17 days before his death. The documentary will also focus on Osbourne’s personal and professional relationship with his wife, Sharon.
