The ending of Superman may have set up Lex Luthor’s downfall, but the events of Peacemaker Season 2 turned over a new leaf in his agenda. With the series directly setting up the events of Superman’s follow-up (not a direct one), Nicholas Hoult has promised that Lex will subvert fans’ expectations in Man of Tomorrow.
In an interview with GQ, Hoult shared his excitement about stepping back into the role. “So I’m really excited to play that character again because I feel like there’s a lot to explore with him and expectations to subvert. It’s going to be exciting to step back into those shoes again.”
James Gunn’s direction seems to give Lex a broader canvas to play with. The filmmaker has confirmed that Man of Tomorrow will dive as deeply into Luthor’s psyche as it will into Superman’s heroism. “Man of Tomorrow will not be the same as Superman. And it is Lex’s story too, so it’s the two of them.”

Although Gunn teased on Instagram that the script is complete, Hoult admitted he hasn’t read it yet. “I haven’t read it yet, but hopefully will soon, so I can’t say anything more than that.”
With excitement building around the sequel, it will be interesting to see how the dynamics evolve between Luthor and Superman – especially after they locked horns in Superman.
