Viral singing sensation Oliver Tree documented his first-ever trip to Brazil in what would be his final post before he tragically passed away on Sunday.

Oliver, best known for hits like Life Goes On, died in a helicopter crash in Brazil at age 32. Hours earlier, the singer updated his more than three and a half million Instagram followers with a video montage of a joyful day he spent playing football and exploring the country.

Oliver Tree’s final social media post was a video from Brazil

At the start of the video, which was posted on Saturday, the American musician successfully scored a goal and enthusiastically celebrated with Brazilian YouTuber Iae Break while wearing a yellow and green football jersey with his full name printed on the back.

Oliver had his hair cut by the YouTuber and tried his hand at cooking during his day out in the city. At the end of the video, he rode off down the street on a motorbike and continued celebrating his football skills with a trophy and bouquet of flowers.

“Americano pela 1º vez no Brasil,” Iae captioned the joint post, which translated in English to, “American for the 1st time in Brazil”. The song Worth Nothing by TWISTED, which Oliver featured on, played in the background.

The comments section was inundated with condolences and tributes from fans and fellow musicians, including Canadian singer Cameron Whitcomb who said he was “absolutely heartbroken”. The post currently has over 180,000 comments at the time of writing.

YouTuber Iae shared a follow-up post on Monday paying tribute to the musician, whom he called an “extraordinary guy, with an energy that lit up everything around you,” in the translated caption. “It’s hard to accept that people so special have to leave so soon… I still can’t believe it,” he added.

Social media presence

Oliver shared his final video on X (formerly Twitter), a video collaboration with influencer Aaron Mercury, earlier this month.

In the video, which was posted to his profile on 9 June, Aaron went to trim the singer’s signature haircut with a clipper. “No me gusta,” Oliver captioned the post in Spanish, which translates in English to “I don’t like”.

The musician frequently posted on social media and had shared several videos in the last week on Instagram alone, including a clip of him singing and jamming out with Lucas Inutilismo, who provided back-up on the guitar.

Remembered as a ‘legend’

The musician has been remembered as a “legend”

Oliver was among six people killed when two helicopters collided mid-air over Rio de Janeiro before crashing into the parking lot of an electric vehicle dealership. The American singer was identified as one of those killed in the collision in reports from Brazilian authorities.

The musician had been in Brazil for his ongoing world tour and had just performed in São Paulo on 6 June. He was scheduled to play in Portugal on 1 July as part of the European leg of his tour which was also set to travel across North America and Australia.

Former professional boxer and musician KSI remembered Oliver as a “legend” in a touching tribute on Sunday. “Can’t believe I’m actually having to type this. You’re 32 man. You should still be here. You still had so much life to live. So much music to make,” he wrote.

“You’re a legend and will always be a legend. Still doesn’t feel real. Genuinely feel sick. I love you bro.”
