PAPA Fort Columbia musical is a family affair: Two more weekends remain for ‘Anastasia’

Two weekends remain to see “Anastasia: The Musical” at the Fort Columbia Theater in Chinook.
The play is staged by the Peninsula Association of Performing Artists and directed by Carly Keone.
It features Aria Larsen as a woman who may — or may not — be the surviving daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, whose family was slaughtered in 1918 during the Russian Revolution.
The production is a family affair for the Larsens.
Brandy Larsen was on board as Keone’s music director then took over two onstage roles, including the Tsarina, after some early cast changes.
“It is beautiful music,” she said. “The opportunity to direct it has been amazing. but the opportunity to participate onstage has been just magical.
“This is a show I never expected to be in, actually,” Larsen added. “It was just a crazy sequence of events that put me in it. It is one more show that I get to do with my daughter — probably my last one, because she is getting ready to go off to college.”
Aria Larsen, an Astoria High School graduate enrolled at Brigham Young University in Idaho, plays Anya, the name given to a young amnesiac sheltered by nurses after the Romanovs are killed.
A third family member has played a key backstage role: Ryan Larsen, who created the set for “Into the Woods” last year, returned to build the set — with a surprise — for “Anastasia.”
“The audience will be watching what he has created,” Keone said. “He does fabulous work. It is going to be fun seeing his vision.”
