Reddit user instabaiter recently asked, “What movie is a 10/10?” Here are the films that people eagerly shared:
1. “Project Hail Mary. I experienced every possible human emotion in two and a half hours. And I expected none of this when I went to watch it.”

2. “The Matrix (1999). It was a great film then, and it’s aged like fine wine, particularly in its messaging.”
Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection
3. “Saving Private Ryan. The opening scene is the most realistic portrayal of warfare I’ve seen. I’d argue the best war movie ever made.”
DreamWorks/Courtesy Everett Collection
4. “WALL-E. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say it’s an 11/10. The characters are well written, the animation is on point, and the story is excellent. Pixar just hasn’t made a movie like it since.”

5. “Back to the Future. I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.”

6. “The Truman Show. Came out in 1998 and somehow gets more relevant every single year.”
Melinda Sue Gordon / Paramount Pictures / Courtesy Everett Collection
7. “Alien (1979). Not a single wasted frame. Every scene builds tension, the practical effects still hold up today, and Sigourney Weaver basically invented the action heroine. It’s a horror film, a sci-fi film, and a survival thriller all at once, and it nails all three.”

8. “Jurassic Park, 1993. It’s got the spectacle, it’s got the dino, it’s got enough horror, it’s got the jokes and lighthearted moments, it’s got the memes, it’s got the foundation to become one of the most popular franchises in the world.”

9. “The Emperor’s New Groove. A tight 80-minute romp. No filler, all entertainment, all-star cast.”
Buena Vista Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection
10. “Hot Fuzz. Perfectly cast. Great acting. Genuinely funny. Every setup pays off later. And all for the greater good.”
Rogue Pictures/Everett Collection
11. “The Incredibles. A kids’ movie that addresses the responsibilities of superheroes way before Marvel, involves family drama, the feelings of loss, the feelings that athletes might have when they’re being knocked out of their glory days, and is absolutely dark in its whole premise. Couple that with a glorious art style, which, although simple, really holds up.”

12. “The Last Of The Mohicans. Excellent cast, excellent scenery, excellent score, and excellent cinematography.”

14. “Ratatouille still holds up to this day!”

15. “The Godfather still holds up perfectly. Every frame is basically a painting. That’s a 10/10 for me.”
Paramount Pictures / Courtesy Everett Collection
16. “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This film is an absolute masterpiece. It’s incredibly psychologically charged. The acting and the atmosphere are so good that you feel like you’re right there with the characters.”

18. “Shrek. It’s a many-layered work of art.”

20. “Raiders of the Lost Ark is perfect the entire way through. Every shot is exquisite. Harrison Ford is a ******* stud. Alfred Molina is in it!”

21. “A Clockwork Orange. Never seen anything like that, past and present. Unrepeatable movie.”

22. “Paddington and Paddington 2. Hear me out. They may not be important, but they are incredibly well-crafted, with broad appeal and an accessible, compelling story that has heart and a brain. They have no right to be as good as they are. 96% and 99% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Absolutely legendary films have a hard time breaking 95%. 99% fresh is nearly unheard of. If you haven’t seen them, do.”

23. “Schindler’s List. Profound, shocking, with an ultimate portrayal of humanity, and a perfect fusion of art and humanism.”
Universal/Courtesy / Courtesy Everett Collection
24. “I’m not the biggest movie buff by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve always preferred shows to movies, but I’ve been watching more movies lately, and the most recent 10/10 I’ve seen is Boogie Nights. Such an amazing film. The ensemble cast all play their parts perfectly, and almost every single performance is a 10/10 across the board, especially Burt Reynolds, Juliana Moore, Don Cheadle, and Heather Graham. The music was so good, incredibly good cinematography with some of the best tracking shots I’ve ever seen, and my favorite part had to be the ending. Without spoiling it, I’ve never seen such a movie with such a sad ‘happy ending’. It’s honestly a perfect movie, and I’d recommend everyone watch it.”

The script has a contemporary timelessness. The music is incredible. The emotions it evokes are unlike any film. Even Marlon Wayans and Jared Leto turn in incredible performances.”
