Peyton List partnered with e.l.f. Beauty to launch its new haircare line with the new “What the h.e.l.f.?” campaign
In an interview with PEOPLE, the actress reflects on the evolution of her own hair journey
e.l.f. Hair is launching with six new products that will be available to shop on TikTok Shop starting June 16, elfhaircare.com & target.com on June 24 and all U.S. Target stores beginning July 5
Peyton List‘s new gig is the definition of “doing it for the plot.”
The Cobra Kai actress, 28, recently found herself in the middle of the woods in England with (wait for it) a “twerking” Bigfoot. Playing a part in the magical encounter was all done in the name of fabulous hair and a very exciting launch from e.l.f. Beauty.
On Monday, June 15, the cosmetics company — which also includes e.l.f. Cosmetics and e.l.f. SKIN — announced the debut of a haircare line, e.l.f. Hair, and it features six new products that take center stage in the “What the h.e.l.f.?” campaign that shows a hilarious encounter between Peyton, content creator Yonna Jay — and the infamous mythical creature.
“It was a whirlwind and it really felt like a trip because we were in the middle of the woods and there was Bigfoot [played by Robert Strange] twerking in the middle of it,” List jokes in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE about her partnership with e.l.f. Hair.
“I was like, can you imagine if you just woke up here and you didn’t have any context?” she adds. “I thought I was going to have this epic hair moment with me flipping my hair. Instead, it was Bigfoot in the middle of the woods, which I loved.”
But silliness aside, Peyton says filming in nature truly put her hair — and the new e.l.f. Hair products — to the test.
The line, which prides itself on offering prestige products at an accessible price point ranging from $6 to $9, includes the Never Thirsty Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, the Gloss Mode Treatment Oil and the 3-in-Wonder Magic Styling Cream and Wand. As if kismet, it was the Humidity Hero Anti-Frizz Styling Spray that rescued Peyton’s hair as she was running in and out of the rain on set.

List describes her hair as dry and prone to frizziness, so the oil’s heat-activated formula definitely helped with her flyaways — which just so happens is the reason why Bigfoot ends up stealing the product from her backpack and partaking in a glamorous photo shoot with his hair blowing in the wind.
Her partnership with the hair brand comes full circle. The Disney Channel alum tells PEOPLE that e.l.f. Cosmetics’ makeup was a staple for her when she was younger, and still is when she’s in a pinch for a good-quality drugstore product. Now, it is the company’s sister brand that will see her through her evolving hair journey.
What’s relatable about List is that, like many of us, she self-confesses to having “gone through every TikTok hair phase known to man” (she’s currently deep-diving the benefits of okra water). But discovering what works for her is a “constant journey,” especially when her hair is sometimes at the mercy of the characters she plays.

“It’s just trial and error,” she explains, adding that she will go all in with a dramatic hair transformation without a thought. “I just go for it and then see what happens after.”
However, this summer, she is planning to strip it back and embrace her natural texture. “I just feel like I lead with my hair. I see what my hair is doing naturally that day and then I’ll even dress around it. But I feel like, with beauty and skincare, it used to be 50 steps. Now, I feel like it’s become so much more minimal in skincare, but also in haircare as well. I really just try to have my staples.”
