Hollywood is set to meet His Holiness.
This week, the Vatican will host several big stars for a celebrity event.
Pope Leo XIV announced that Cate Blanchett, Judd Apatow, Monica Bellucci, Spike Lee, George Miller, Viggo Mortenson, Chris Pine, Adam Scott and Gus Van Sant are among the many big names in cinema to meet with him on Nov. 15.
“In this Jubilee Year, Pope Leo XIV has expressed his desire to deepen dialogue with the World of
Cinema, and in particular with actors and directors, exploring the possibilities that artistic
creativity offers to the mission of the Church and the promotion of human values,” the Vatican explained.
Ahead of the meeting, the See of Rome revealed the films most significant to him, which are: “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “The Sound of Music,” “Ordinary People” and “Life Is Beautiful.”
“The meeting is promoted by the Dicastery for Culture and Education in collaboration with the
Dicastery for Communication and the Vatican Museums, following on from events dedicated to
the Figurative Arts (June 2023) and Humour (June 2024) and continuing on from the recent
Jubilee for Artists and the World of Culture, celebrated last February,” the Vatican said.
