DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Downtown Dothan’s Porter Park Event Plaza is set to open Saturday, September 13th, offering a new entertainment space.
The plaza features an amphitheater, hookups for food trucks, and art installations.

St. Andrews Street will close for more than 20 vendors, while Foster Street will remain open for dining and coffee runs.
Select businesses will also be allowed to sell alcoholic drinks in marked cups that can be carried in the plaza and entertainment district.
The opening celebration begins at 2 p.m., with headliners Billy Allen & The Pollies scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The plaza will also highlight hometown talent.
“And there’s always going to be slots for local Dothan, Wiregrass artists as well to perform. We do want to see a lot of original songs,” said Clay Dempsey, the Director of Performing Arts. “Because we kind of want to use this to incubate, you know, the Dothan music scene. That’s kind of what’s been lacking here. So we’re hoping this really kind of sets it off.”
Additional concerts are scheduled for later this year and are going into the next.
