The impressionist told Extra this week that she found the hiring and firing news “pretty wild.”
“Some shocking stuff. A little heartbreak, sadness,” the actor said.
“I haven’t fully processed anything, but I will say the show has such a turnover,” Fineman added. “But these people stay in your lives, and I am excited for the new people.”
So far, surprising departures include beloved “SNL” star Heidi Gardner (who was on the show for eight seasons) and John Higgins, a member of the Please Don’t Destroy comedy group.
Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim also have confirmed that they will not be back.
Scarlett Johansson, who is married to “SNL” star Colin Jost, recently put some fans’ minds at ease when she confirmed that her husband will return to the show.
“He’s going back to work,” Johansson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly over the weekend.
“SNL” creator and producer Lorne Michaels told Puck in August that the coming season of the show would include some shake-ups, as he felt “pressure to reinvent this season.”
Some of the changes were slightly overdue, as Michaels also said “there couldn’t be those kind of disruptions or anything that was going to take the focus off” Season 50 of the show.
