Paulina Porizkova is mourning a major loss.
The former supermodel took to social media to share an emotional post about the death of a loved one last week, providing an update on Wednesday, Oct. 1, after attending the funeral.
In Wednesday’s Instagram post, Porizkova, 60, included footage from her travels to Ohio to “say goodbye” to her friend, Mistie Savage-McGuire, who died after a battle with cancer.
“Our Sunday. Holding our friend. Holding their daughters. Holding each-other. Heartbreaking and important. To be there for one another,” Porizkova expressed.
The cover shot of the upload was a somber, teary-eyed photo of herself at the airport, with a text timestamp reading, “6:30 am – on our way to Ohio to say goodbye.” It also included footage from the church service, where a picture of the model and her late pal was displayed on-screen.
“Mistie and Todd’s daughter Emersynn took the photo of us hugging Todd. So grateful for it. A moment heavy with grief but also love,” Porizkova explained of a separate snapshot in the post.
Additionally, she shared a poignant note about grief, with the final slide displaying an encouraging message: “Those of us in the grief club know how lonely it is. So we show up not because we can fix anything or make anyone forget or distract or make anything better- but just to be present. Just to be there.”

In the comment section, fans poured in offering well-wishes and sending love, condolences, hugs and prayers her way during this difficult time.
“💔🙏😢 May God uphold Mistie’s Family and all of those who love her, during this tender time. Prayers and love is sent your way. Grief is the greatest proof of love,” one wrote, while another similarly said, “Sending love and prayers 🌻 🙏🏻 ❤️.”
Many more echoed that sentiment, with a few others penning, “🙏 for your friend and my condolences to you. It hurts to lose a loved ones,” “I am so so sorry for the loss of this beautiful soul! May she be at peace. Sending much love, light & prayers to all of you! ❤️🙏❤️,” and “Prayers for comfort for family and friends.”
Meanwhile, one person found the vulnerability inspiring: “Thank you for sharing your grief, Paulina. In this world, we often want to move through grief quickly, or pretend it isn’t there. I believe we need to move through it slowly, with presence, so we can let it do its work. We do this as a way to honor the person we lost and to heal. Thank you for being a great example for us.”
Porizkova initially announced the loss on Sept. 25 in a separate upload. “Words are not enough but they are all we have. @mistie_loves_louis_v#rip,” she captioned her video at the time.
According to Savage-McGuire’s Instagram bio, she was diagnosed with terminal rectal cancer.
