Michelle Dockery says she’s “disappointed” her dog Alfie wasn’t more excited about her pregnancy
The actress announced she is expecting her first baby with husband Jasper Waller-Bridge at the premiere of her film Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale

Michelle Dockery’s dog was less than impressed with her pregnancy news.
When the Downton Abbey star, 43, stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, Sept. 9, she spoke about her pregnancy, which she recently announced at the London premiere of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.
Knowing how much she loves her dog Alfie, host Jimmy Fallon asked Dockery how he reacted to learning that his family is growing.
“Well, people keep asking me, ‘Does he know?’ You know, they’re so sensitive. He doesn’t care,” Dockery said. “I don’t think he has any clue.”
“I think he does,” Fallon replied. “I’m quite disappointed,” Dockery added.
“Really? Oh, wait until the baby arrives. Then Alfie’s like, ‘Where’s all my attention?’ ” Fallon joked.

On Sept. 3, Dockery announced she’s expecting her first baby with husband Jasper Waller-Bridge, revealing the news at the world premiere of her new movie.
Dockery wore a dusty blue off-the-shoulder gown and minimal jewelry as she walked the red carpet. Her baby bump was on full display as she posed from the side, showing off her long, sheer train and the glittery silver lining of the top of her dress.
The actress also posed with her husband, who is actress, writer and director Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brother.
Dockery and Jasper tied the knot in September 2023. They were spotted decked out in wedding gear outside of a West London church, according to photos shared by multiple news outlets, including the Daily Mail.

The wedding came over a year after the pair announced their engagement with a notice in The Times in January 2022.
“The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex,” the notice read.
Dockery was previously engaged to public relations executive John Dineen, who died in 2015 at age 34 following a battle with a rare form of cancer. At the time, the actress thanked the public for their “support and kindness” via a rep, and years later, she revealed during a conversation with The Guardian that she considered herself a “widow.”
“That’s the first time I’ve said that, and it’s a bit of a relief to say so,” she said in 2017.
