It’s epic to hear that Peaky Blinders’ universe is finally getting the expansion it always deserved. From a spinoff passing the Birmingham blitz to a new generation of Shelbys, to a feature film with the iconic Tommy Shelby – played once again by Cillian Murphy – leading the beleaguered crew, the Shelby universe is shaping up to be meaner than ever.
Amidst all the secrecy surrounding Netflix’s The Immortal Man (filming wrapped in December but with no release date yet), Rebecca Ferguson, who plays a Romanian gypsy, has spilled her one sweet secret. And if you are a die-hard Cillian Murphy fan, you are going to love this!

In an interview with The Times, Ferguson revealed the real reason behind working on the film. Keeping it simple and real, she said, “I did it because I really wanted to work with Cillian Murphy.”
Indeed, the reason is powerful – but it came at a cost. Ferguson played Ilsa Faust in the Mission Impossible franchise, and her contract meant she couldn’t take other jobs. Departing from the franchise in Dead Reckoning: Part One, which even seemed inevitable as director Christopher McQuarrie and her “had the same idea” that “there was nothing more to do” with the character, Ferguson had her schedule wide open for other projects. What next? Cillian Murphy starrer was her next pick.
With two giants joining forces, there’s nothing but excellence to expect from the Peaky Blinders film, and we know those high expectations won’t be disappointed.
