After being stripped of his “prince” title, Prince Andrew has been asked to move out of his royal lodge amid the ongoing controversies. After being stripped of his “prince” title by King Charles, Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Moreover, he will no longer be staying in his royal home. Buckingham Palace told Page Six in a statement on Thursday that the monarch “has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.”
The statement further mentioned that Andrew’s “lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.” But now, a “formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
According to the outlet, the monarch’s younger brother “has not objected” to the process. He will, in fact, vacate the premises “as soon as practicable.”
The 65-year-old member of the royal family will reportedly relocate to a property on the private Sandringham estate. Even his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also make her own living arrangements. Fergurson was still living with Andrew in the Royal Lodge even after being divorced for nearly three decades. The former couple got divorced in 1996.
Apart from losing the “prince” title, Andrew also loses other titles, including the Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, and Baron Killyleagh. He will also not be referred to as “His Royal Highness.” Additionally, the honours of the Order of the Garter and Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order will also be removed.
Even Ferguson will no longer maintain her title of Duchess of York. However, their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their titles.
Abiding by the monarch’s decision, Andrew released a statement earlier this month, saying that he “will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”
