Prince Harry has openly discussed  fatherhood, admitting “everything changes” during his appearance at the WellChild Awards in central London this week.

The Duke of Sussex made the trip for the annual charitable gathering, where he has served as patron for 17 years.

Speaking with Hello! Magazine, he revealed intimate details about parental life. He explained, “I think once you become a parent yourself, everything changes. It’s emotional enough not being a parent and seeing what these families go through, but then when you have your own kids or when you’re expecting your own kids, that’s when it really hits you.”

WellChild serves as a crucial national charity supporting sick children, highlighting the extraordinary strength and courageous spirit of youngsters battling serious health conditions.

Prince Harry also remembered becoming emotional during the 2018 WellChild Awards, expressing his thankfulness for having healthy children. He shared: “And I remember one of these years, I choked up on stage, and that was exactly it. I am so grateful to have healthy kids.”, reports the Express.

Harry connected with the young honorees and their families during the event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Addressing the audience at the GSK-sponsored awards ceremony, the Duke honored the recipients as a “beacon of hope and inspiration”.

He continued: “While we reflect on 20 years of these awards, the truth is that you are the story. You are the reason we gather here. Each of you is a beacon of hope and inspiration, not just to those in this room, but to the nation. Keep fighting. Keep smiling. And above all, keep showing us what strength, courage and joy really look like.”

On Monday, Harry also commemorated the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing by quietly placing flowers at her resting place in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The duke is currently on an uncommon four-day visit to the UK, conducting a series of individual charity engagements, but has not yet reconnected with his father the King or his brother the Prince of Wales.

Harry revealed he has personally contributed £1.1 million ($1.4m) to BBC Children in Need to assist young people impacted by violence.

Harry disclosed his donation, which came from his personal funds rather than his Archewell Foundation, during a stop at the Community Recording Studio (CRS) in Nottingham on Tuesday.

The duke expressed that the city had provided him with “important lessons” and had “truly” motivated him.

“I’ve lost count of the number of visits I’ve made here, and the amount of jerk chicken I’ve eaten on almost every occasion on the way back,” he remarked to considerable laughter. “It really is banging.”
