Several personal Facebook messages Prince Harry previously sent to a journalist have been revealed.
The messages between Harry, now 41, and Mail on Sunday reporter Charlotte Griffiths were disclosed to the High Court as part of Harry’s privacy claim against Associated Newspapers Limited. The correspondences occurred between December 2011 and January 2012.
“It’s H, incase u were confused by name and picture!!! X,” Harry allegedly wrote in the first December 4, 2011, message, per The Telegraph.
Griffiths replied, “Hello Mr Mischief… Did you get home OK slash did you actually find your car and did you beat Arthur down the motorway more importantly?! What a fun weekend of naughtiness – can’t we all get up to no good in the countryside every weeked [sic] damn it?? Smooches, CG String. Xxx.”
Harry responded that it was “without doubt the best of those weekends I’ve been to,” adding, “What a crowd. Never laughed so much in 24hrs!! Mr mischief? How do I get that title … l was surely no worse than anyone else!!”
Harry allegedly wrote that he had “serious withdraw[al] symptoms still” but that he had been making “polite conversation with strange people at a dinner last night.begging them for money for charity! Really fun.not. Hope work isn’t too dull wherever u are?!”
Griffiths proposed a team reunion and referred to the lack of banter “on the group email front,” the outlet wrote. Ten days later, Harry told Griffiths that she had “missed a good party last night.”
In a January 22, 2012, text message, Griffiths referred to Harry as “H Bomb” and wrote, “We missed you so much at Arthur’s last week.”

The Duke responded: “I WISH I was there sugar but unfortunately stuck in Cornwall doing Army stuff 🙁 Otherwise I would have been there playing and then drinking u under the table,obvi!! Just wish I could have been there … especially now that you’re there! Dou ever work?!!…. Hope you’re really well Griff … Miss our movie snuggles!! In January, Harry told the court that he met Griffiths once at a party and “cut off contact” with her the next day when he realized she was a journalist.
The trial came to a close on Tuesday, March 31, with barristers making closing submissions to Mr. Justice Nicklin. He will deliver his ruling at a later date.
Griffiths, for her part, told the High Court last month that she had been in similar social circles as the younger royals. She noted that Harry “friended” her on Facebook in 2011 and sent his phone number before they interacted online.

Griffiths claimed that she and Harry attended a party the following June and texted each other the next morning. She alleged to have remembered the night because they thought it was “quite funny” Harry had stayed up all night before attending a Trooping the Colour event the next morning. The outlet reported that call data showed the two speaking at 2:50 a.m. and exchanging three text messages the next morning.
Harry, however, said he had “no idea” whether she was in his social circles and continued to claim he had only met Griffiths at a party hosted by their mutual friend. He noted that he “had words” with his friend when she realized he was a journalist and “that was that.”
Years after the alleged correspondences, Harry tied the knot with Meghan Markle in 2018. The pair welcomed son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
