Prince William headed to Wembley Stadium this afternoon to attend the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City. The Prince of Wales, President and Patron of the Football Association (FA), stepped onto the pitch and shook hands with both managers and their teams.
William, celebrating 20 years in the role, will present the trophy to the winning side later this afternoon. A lifelong supporter of Aston Villa since his schooldays, William was spotted in the tunnel with both teams ahead of kick-off. He has attended numerous Villa matches over the years, even joining in the celebrations during the club’s recent 4–0 win over Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.
William’s FA come outing comes just days after Princess Catherine returned from a “deeply moving and unforgettable time” in Reggio Emilia.
The Princess of Wales’ solo trip was the 44-year-olds first official overseas trip since being treated for cancer.
