Prince William took special hand-crafted gifts home to the Princess of Wales and their three children from his trip to a Cornish bakery.
The heir to the throne took on customer service duties at the Gear Farm Pasty Shop, answering telephone orders and trying his hand at crafting the region’s famous pastries.
His visit to Cornwall also included meeting communities impacted by Storm Goretti.
The shop, founded by David Webb, found itself with an unexpected royal employee as William threw himself into the day’s activities, handling everything from phone calls to pasty preparation during the busy Cornish national day celebrations.

Staff at the pasty shop prepared special treats for the royal to take home. Frances Combellack, who works at the establishment, said: “We made a pasty for each of the family members with an initial on it and a crown.
“He took them home to his family, but said he wasn’t sure if they would make it home; he might have to eat them on the way home!
“I suppose he’s going to go home and show Catherine what he made.
“He was kind of like: ‘Oh, I wish my wife were here to help, she would be a lot better at it.'”
The personalised pasties were destined for the Princess of Wales and the couple’s three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
William was characteristically modest about his culinary efforts, expressing a wish that Catherine had been present to assist. “He said that his looked like some kind of crab,” Ms Combellack revealed to Hello, though staff insisted he performed admirably for a first attempt.

One telephone order provided particular amusement during the prince’s stint behind the counter. Customer Josie Trounson rang to place her order for 10 frozen and five cooked pasties, only for William to mishear her name.
“I said, ‘No, it’s not Juicy, it’s Josie!’,” she recalled of the moment the prince addressed her incorrectly.
William recovered with characteristic humour, offering a quick-witted apology: “Sorry Josie, I thought you said Juicy… the pasties will be juicy.”
The grandmother had no idea she was speaking to royalty, assuming the unfamiliar voice belonged to additional staff hired for the busy St Piran’s Day period.
Ms Trounson, a regular at the shop, had called ahead specifically to avoid disappointment, having previously arrived during a busy period to find the pasties sold out.

She immediately noticed the voice was different from the usual staff. “I knew it wasn’t David or his daughter, as they are usually who I speak to, I just thought they were busy and had extra staff on for St Piran’s Day,” she explained.
The truth only emerged when she arrived to collect her order. Staff asked if she knew who had served her, before revealing: “Would you be surprised to hear it was Prince William that took your order?”
