Prince William is said to have warned his wife, Kate Middleton, to “stay away” from Prince Harry when he travels to the UK next.
A source has claimed that while the Princess of Wales and King Charles appear willing to reconcile with the Duke of Sussex after years of tension, the Prince of Wales is not keen to welcome his younger brother into the royal fold as of yet.
The claims emerged weeks after Harry, 41, visited his native country to attend the WellChild Awards and also used the occasion to meet his father for the first time in 19 months.
In recent months, Harry has expressed his desire to reconnect with his family and his reunion with the king was largely seen as the start of a reconciliation process.
Now, a source has claimed that William is “staggered that his father’s allowing Harry back into the fold like this prodigal son figure” and that he is unhappy with the fact that “Kate’s been pushing so hard for Harry’s reprieve.”
They said things are “pretty tense at the moment between William and Charles” and suggested this is the thing they most disagree on.
“It’s taken His Majesty a long time to soften his stance towards Harry, but at this point in time, he shares Kate’s belief that life is too short for petty grudges. Despite all the ups and downs of years gone by, Harry is still his flesh and blood, and deserves to be treated with dignity,” the source said.
They insisted Charles isn’t suggesting Harry be welcomed back into the royal fold, but said “it’s the King’s view that there’s no reason why Harry should be totally ostracised. And he is saying openly that he looks forward to more visits with his son, grandchildren and even his daughter-in-law in the very near future.”
Kate and Harry used to be very close in the past and the prince considered his sister-in-law as the sister he never had.
After William opened up about the future of the monarchy and his childhood in an episode of actor Eugene Levy’s series The Reluctant Traveler, former royal butler Grant Harrold said he doesn’t believe the prince will be quite so quick to forgive his brother Harry and reconnect with him.
Grant told us, “A reunion is becoming less and less likely as time goes on. You never know what is going on behind closed doors and never say never, but from what we are seeing and hearing at this moment in time, I would say a reunion is not on the cards.”
Despite suggesting it would be unlikely for Harry and William to meet now, Grant shared a note of positivity, saying, “Time is a healer, so who knows in the future.”
Prince Harry‘s team declined to comment on the claims. The Express US has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
