While the files themselves do not indicate any wrongdoing, emails exchanged between the pair and the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein show just how close they were with him. This was the case even after he was first convicted for child sex offences.
The files also showed that Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, had been around Epstein as a result of the friendship he had with their parents.
Speaking exclusively to The Express, brand and culture expert Nick Ede said: “Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are in a uniquely difficult position because of the controversy surrounding their parents, which isn’t something they can control, but it inevitably shapes public perception of them.
“In situations like this, the most effective strategy for them is to be quiet and carry on their business as usual.”
The princesses have kept a low profile over recent months, and are expected to do so for some time.
It is not known where their relationship with their parents currently stands.
It also not known whether the sisters have seen their father since he moved out of Royal Lodge last month into a home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
