While Beatrice and Eugenie will not be attending this Easter, it is not to say that the King has cut ties with the York sisters. Rather, ‘the door has been left open’ for the pair to attend royal events and ‘family celebrations’ in the future, reports the BBC.
Earlier this March, Princess Eugenie stepped back from her position as patron of Anti-Slavery International after seven years of service.
Anti-Slavery International said in a statement to The Observer: ‘After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end. We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International. We hope that she continues to work to end slavery.’
Both Eugenie and Beatrice, 37, have kept a low profile in recent months after their parents were stripped of their royal titles and evicted from Royal Lodge, the home they shared on the Windsor estate.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, a royal editor said the sisters are too ‘tarnished’ to appear at royal events, and might be excluded for the rest of the year.
